How to memorize things easily

Are you preparing for an examination?
Have you experienced studying the whole day and ending up forgetting or hardly remembering all those stuffs you have studied?
Memorizing is easy for others while a hell for some. Maybe technique is one of the key in memorizing effectively.
1. Read and understand- Read well and be sure to understand everything. Read silently and avoid putting extra energy in reading aloud. Read like you are discussing things to yourself. Act like your a teacher discussing the subject to yourself. Understand every words and be sure to analyze the thought of what you are reading. Next, in a separate notes, write down important things from what you have read. After reading, explain to yourself what you have understood.

2.  make use of MNEMONICS. after jutting down the important notes. Use mnemonics to remember every important detail.    example: ROY G. BIV which stands for the 6 colors of the rainbow.
                                           R-red, O-orange, Y-yellow, G-green, B-blue, I-indigo, V-violet

3.  Connect/ Relate certain mnemonics or information you are studying with certain keywords.
      ex. in memorizing Nursing theories, remember Virginia Henderson-14 Basic Need Theory (key: at 14   years old you can loose your virginity) the more amusing it sounds, the easier to remember.

4. Rewrite! the more you rewrite the lower chance you can forget.

5. ANALYZE! You shouldn't just memorize but more importantly you need to analyze the thought of what you are reading.

6. Lastly, Don't exhaust yourself in memorizing. Rest your brain and have enough sleep. Take care of your brain cells! You wont have a chance to regrow them. Brain cells dies and shrinks when you are stressed, smoke, drinks alcohol and have too much caffeine.

Aside from this techniques, you also need to motivate yourself to study and have interest for it. Maintain a happy disposition when studying. Be positive and set a schedule. Mostly, discipline yourself in following studying time.
